Jeff Kelly

I didn’t start out wanting to play guitar. Being raised in an Amish home, we really weren’t expected to do anything but the chores. But I “broke Amish” way before it became a popular TV show. I ran away from my settlement in Pennsylvania when I was 15 and literally joined a traveling fair (aka – circus). It was there that I was introduced to a freak show star, Jerry Mander. Jerry could play the ukulele with her feet (her arms were an unfortunate circumstance of a childhood prank – too long a story to tell here). So, I graduated from the ukulele to acoustic guitar, picking out all the Amish songs we sang as a kid. Then I heard a song called Voodoo Chile by Jimmy Hendrix at a fair stop in Wichita and my life was forever changed. It was right then that I took up my whole months wages and bought a cheap Peavey amp and a Squier classic vibe at a pawn shop in Poughkeepsie. Fast forward 40yrs and I’m living my dream life, living with my cat and playing great tunes with the other guys in Used Groove.

Mike Buckley

Mike is from Philadelphia, PA. He has been playing bass since he could fret a note and has been playing music up and down the east coast ever since.

Mike listens to – and plays – just about every type of popular music.  From classical, the singer-songwriters of the 60’s, 70’s soft rock and funk, country, metal, and everything in between, he either knows how to play it or can tell you who recorded it. Mike has been part of several successful original and cover bands in Philly and in Georgia.

Shane Regal

Shane Regal

Guitar & Vocals

Shane started playing guitar at the age of 12 after being introduced to the music of Van Halen. Amazed and totally mesmerized by the sounds Eddie Van Halen conjured from his guitar, Shane began teaching himself how to play by dropping the needle on classic rock records… long before the advent of the internet and youtube. It was a long hard road but well worth it. Self-taught and learning by ear helped him to forge a voice all his own and birthed a passion for music and all things guitar related. By the age of 15, Shane was traveling and gigging every weekend with his band. And in a few years, he was touring the country full-time as a professional musician.

Growing up without a TV or the current day distractions of the internet, Shane had the time to learn and hone his skills as a guitarist versatile in many genres of music.
His dedication, hardwork, & positive attitude have landed him many opportunities over the years, both in session work and in live support. Shane has played with a ton of musicians, some of the more notable: Joel Kosche(Collective Soul), Louie Weaver(Petra), Jimi Bennett(Sacred Fire, King James). He has received accolades from famous musicians he’s had the opportunity to work with; One of his favorite being from Petra drummer, Louie Weaver, who said, “Shane is the most talented, and the best guitarist I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with.” Famous rock guitarist, Reb Beach(Winger, Whitesnake, Dokken) exclaimed, “You’re totally awesome dude! See you at the top!!”.

Fast forward to today; Shane is the guitarist for Used Groove and is having a blast “stretching out” with the band playing killer classic rock tunes with two other phenomenal musicians.

Don Rousell

Don Rousell

Bass Guitar & Vocals

Don is from New Orleans, LA. which most people know is flowing with music and musicians. Don started listening to music early on in life, about 5 years old. First, like most kids he started listening to the radio and then to his mothers collection of classical, jazz and ultimately Motown Records. The stage was set.

After seeing a high school friend play bass in a popular school band, bass was it for him. The roller coaster ride began and continues to this day. After playing in about a 1000 bands a few private lessons it was time to start his own band… Quite an accomplishment considering where he’s from. The Don Rousell Band was formed and for years did quite well in the New Orleans club scene. Playing both covers and originals, mostly penned by Don. The band became a local favorite as an opening act for touring bands. Don’s band opened for the likes of The Neville Brothers, War, The Funky Meters, The Ohio Players and a host of others. Don has opened and headlined at The House of Blues, The Maple Leaf, Café Istanbul, Café Brazil, Baton Rouge’s Rick’s Café Americana and New Orleans most famous music club Tipitina’s.

Mark Drake

Mark Drake

Drums & Lead Vocals

Mark started playing drums on a toy drum set, banging out ‘Love Her Madly’ by the Doors at the age of 4. His sweet grandmother bought him his first “real” set of drums when he was 12, and he’s been playing ever since then. His musical influences in that timeframe have ranged from the great rock and roll of AC/DC to jazz-fusion-progressive bands like King Crimson and Rush. Mark’s skills have honed over the years through formal musical instruction and teaching drums for marching percussion and a variety of music projects ranging from Contemporary Christian to Country-Southern Rock. He’s played with a number of great artists in the past like Tim Smith (Sheryl Crow, Jellyfish, Neil Finn), and Brian Harrison (producer, music director, Shelby Lynne), but today is having the time of his life playing with Shane and Don in Used Groove.
